Music for All - Learn to Play 8th to 11th October
TiME is proud to support Learn to Play ’26, Music for All’s national celebration of music-making, taking place from 8–11 October 2026.
Running for more than a decade, Learn to Play encourages music organisations, educators, retailers, community groups, schools, private tutors and other providers across the UK to open their doors and offer free taster sessions and musical experiences for people of all ages and abilities.
The aim is simple: to give more people the opportunity to experience the enjoyment and benefits of making music, whether they are complete beginners, returning to music after time away, or simply interested in trying something new.
Could you become a Learn to Play Provider?
Registration is free, and events can be as simple or ambitious as providers choose. Activities might include music production or beat-making sessions, recording a singer or instrument, instrument try-outs, singing workshops, individual or group lessons, beginner ensemble sessions, or opportunities for new musicians to play alongside an existing group.
Learning to DJ as part of Learn to Play
Taking part can also help organisations to:
raise their profile locally and online
engage new members of their community
welcome new students or participants
recruit new members to music groups
showcase the work and welcoming culture of their organisation
join a national community promoting the benefits of music-making.
Registered providers receive access to dedicated resources and promotional materials, inclusion on Music for All’s national Learn to Play activity map, the opportunity to request regional PR support, and guidance from the Learn to Play team throughout the planning and delivery process.
For music education providers in particular, Learn to Play offers an opportunity to introduce their work to new members of the local community, welcome prospective students and even encourage interest in instruments with traditionally lower uptake.
