Playtime Engineering

A warm welcome to Playtime Engineering!

We're delighted to welcome California-based Playtime Engineering, creators of the innovative Blipblox range of electronic musical instruments, to the TiME community!

Founded in 2018 by Troy and Kate Sheets, Playtime Engineering was born from a passion for electronic music and a desire to make synthesis and sound design accessible to children.

The Blipblox SK2 is a colourful and tactile synthesiser

Their colourful, hands-on instruments combine playful design with powerful music-making technology, encouraging musicians of all ages to explore, experiment and create.

The Blipblox SK2 introduces younger musicians to synthesis through intuitive controls, built-in rhythms and interactive sound manipulation, while the Blipblox After Dark offers more advanced synthesis and sound-shaping possibilities.

Blipblox After Dark is a standalone, tactile synthesiser with a built in speaker.

The Blipblox myTRACKS takes creativity further, combining multiple tracks, sounds and sequencing tools in a portable music production station.

Together, these instruments offer exciting possibilities for music education, from early exploration of rhythm, pitch and timbre to developing skills in composition, sound design and electronic music production.

Kate Rounding, Executive Director of TiME, said:

"We're delighted to be strengthening our friendships and partnerships across the USA and excited to be working with Playtime Engineering. Their instruments offer a fantastic way to introduce younger children to music technology, opening up new opportunities in education to create, shape and play with sound. We love their approach to making electronic music accessible, engaging and, above all, fun!"

We're looking forward to working together and introducing more educators and young people to these exciting instruments.
