Odisei Music Launches the Travel Clarinet

The Travel Clarinet in black

Odisei Music has officially launched the Travel Clarinet, a portable electronic wind instrument designed to provide clarinettists with a practical way to practise and perform in situations where a traditional acoustic instrument may not be suitable.

Developed by the Barcelona-based music technology company behind the Travel Sax, the Travel Clarinet combines familiar clarinet fingering with a built-in synthesiser, headphone connectivity and MIDI functionality. The instrument is designed to support silent practice, allowing players to rehearse without disturbing others, whether at home, while travelling or in shared environments.

The Travel Clarinet features a built-in high-resolution synthesiser with more than 50 onboard sounds and integrated speakers, allowing it to function as both a practice instrument and a standalone electronic wind instrument. Players can connect headphones for silent practice, pair a smartphone via Bluetooth to play along with backing tracks, or connect to a computer via USB-C for recording and music production.

The instrument also functions as a MIDI controller, enabling musicians to control virtual instruments and software instruments within a DAW. MIDI data can be used for composition, performance and notation software, providing additional creative possibilities beyond traditional clarinet playing.

According to Odisei Music, more than 300 instruments have already been delivered through an earlier crowdfunding campaign, with users across the UK, Europe, Japan and the United States. The instrument has received positive feedback from musicians, retailers and educators looking for flexible practice and performance solutions.

While not intended as a replacement for an acoustic clarinet, the Travel Clarinet is designed to complement traditional playing by creating additional opportunities for practice and creativity. Its portability, silent operation and digital connectivity may appeal to students, teachers, music producers and performers working in a variety of settings.

Ramón Mañas, Founder and CEO of Odisei Music, said:

"The Travel Clarinet allows musicians to practise whenever and wherever it suits them. Our goal has always been to make music-making more accessible within the realities of modern life."
