Leic Connect Artists to Perform at Riverside Festival
Young musicians taking part in the Leic Connect talent development programme will take to the Main Stage at Leicester Riverside Festival this Sunday, 7th June, performing a set of original music at 1.15pm.
Led by TiME (Technology in Music Education UK) in partnership with Leicestershire Music, Leic Connect supports young people aged 14–18 facing barriers to progression in music. The programme combines mentoring, music technology, songwriting, performance opportunities and industry insight, helping young people develop their creative skills and confidence.
Over recent months, participants have been working with music leaders Harri Georgio and Jake Freeman to write, record and rehearse their own material. The Riverside Festival performance marks an important milestone for the group, providing an opportunity to showcase their work on one of Leicester's biggest stages.
The performance forms part of a wider collaboration between Leicester Music Board and Leicester City Council's Festivals and Events team, which has brought together organisations from across the city to celebrate local music talent at this year's festival.
The festival, taking place across the weekend of 6th and 7th June, also highlights the important role young people play behind the scenes. Four contemporary music leaders from HQ CAN are working as Leicester City Council Young Producers, helping to programme and manage performance spaces across the festival weekend. Their involvement demonstrates the range of creative and leadership opportunities available to young people through Leicester's growing music ecosystem.
Leic Connect is funded by Youth Music through the National Lottery, with delivery supported by partners including Leicester City Council, HQ CAN, DMU and members of the Leicester Music Board.
If you're attending Riverside Festival this weekend, come along to the Main Stage at 1.15pm on Sunday and support the next generation of Leicester music talent.
