Funki Instruments create handcrafted digital instruments designed to make music-making engaging, accessible and creative. Their innovative range supports confidence, self-esteem and a sense of belonging through shared musical experiences, with instruments that require no prior musical knowledge and can be adapted for a wide range of users.

Their current range includes four complementary instruments:

Tutti instrument in yellow featuring a joystick control and 6 small pads

TUTTI – a hybrid instrument combining touchpad and joystick control, designed for solo or group music-making and capable of creating broad soundscapes.

AC – a two-button instrument where each button can trigger sounds or sequences, with low-pressure activation and a durable design.

AC instrument in orange featuring two buttons

KAY – featuring twelve touch surfaces that can be used separately or grouped into larger areas, offering flexible access and creative freedom.

Kay instrument in green featuring two sets of six small pads

Ove instrument in white featuring two joystick controls

OVE – using two joysticks playable in eight directions, giving users expressive control over tones and chords.

The instruments are supported by the Funki Web App, where users can choose sounds from a built-in sound library. The integrated software helps users stay in the same key, scale and part of the song from the very first try, making group music-making immediate and enjoyable. Instruments connect over WiFi, and the app is simple to use with no technical expertise required. Users can explore sound sets, soundscapes and backing tracks, while also choosing key, scale and sound character for individual instruments. Funki instruments can be played together or alongside traditional instruments such as piano and guitar.

Founded by Maria Svahn and Josefine Hölling, Funki continues to develop thoughtful technology that helps more people make music together. Their work has also been recognised through awards including the International Quality Innovation Award and the Inission Innovation Award.

It was also a pleasure to have Funki exhibiting alongside TiME at the Music & Drama Education Expo 2026 earlier this year, where delegates were able to experience the instruments first-hand.

We look forward to sharing more about their instruments, ideas and opportunities with our members in the months ahead.

Welcome to TiME, Funki Instruments.
