We’re delighted to welcome Soundtrap as a Corporate Member of TiME!

In 2013, Soundtrap was the world’s first web-based, cross-platform collaborative music recording studio. From the outset, its aim was to make music creation more accessible, enabling people to create and collaborate online without needing a traditional studio set-up. Its potential for education was recognised early, and Soundtrap for Education launched in 2015.

Today, Soundtrap provides students with an accessible, cloud-based environment for making music, recording audio and podcasts, songwriting and music production. Because it works across devices and through a web browser, students can begin projects in the classroom and continue them elsewhere, while collaboration tools enable them to create together. For teachers, dedicated education accounts provide classroom management features, assignments, lesson plans and resources alongside integrations with major learning platforms

Soundtrap is also continuing to develop new possibilities for creative learning. Its new Video Scoring feature brings moving image directly into the creative process, allowing students to compose music, record Foley and narration, and synchronise music and sound with key moments in the action. It opens up some exciting opportunities for exploring film scoring, sound design and the relationship between sound, music and storytelling.

Vocal Suite is one of the many professional features available in Soundtrap

“Having come from a music technology background myself, I’m genuinely excited about what we can build with TiME and the wider UK music education community. My focus is on working closely with teachers, schools and organisations to make sure Soundtrap is not just a great creative tool, but one that educators feel confident getting the very best from in the classroom.

Alongside new functionality such as Video Scoring, we’re also putting a lot of focus into updating our UK curriculum-aligned resources and creating practical CPD and training opportunities for educators. For me, this partnership is about listening to teachers, understanding what they need, and helping Soundtrap become an increasingly valuable part of music-making and music technology education across the UK.” Michael Beardsley, UK Account Executive, Soundtrap

Richard Llewellyn, CEO of TiME, said: “Soundtrap has played an important role in making music technology more accessible to young people and educators. Its collaborative approach makes it particularly valuable in education, giving students the opportunity not only to learn about music technology, but to create, experiment and work together. We’re delighted to welcome Soundtrap to TiME and look forward to working together to support creative music technology in education.”

We’re really pleased to have Soundtrap joining the TiME community and look forward to sharing more from the team over the coming months. A very warm welcome to Soundtrap!
