Explore GarageBand Beyond the Music Classroom
Albion is hosting a Regional Training & Collaboration Workshop at RGS Worcester on Thursday 2 July, exploring how iPad and GarageBand can be used to support learning across the primary curriculum.
Led by Apple Professional Learning Specialist David Kirtlan, this hands-on session will demonstrate how GarageBand can be used to enhance literacy, creativity and pupil engagement through podcasting, storytelling and media production.
Participants will explore practical approaches to using GarageBand to support:
• Oracy and spoken language development through podcasting and narration
• Creative writing and storytelling through sound design and audio production
• Cross-curricular learning across English, humanities and project-based learning
• Inclusive approaches to learner engagement through multimodal forms of expression
The workshop will also provide opportunities to connect with fellow educators and gain practical insights into how technology can support pupils to create, collaborate and communicate in powerful new ways.
The session is open to all primary educators, and no prior experience of GarageBand, music or audio production is required.

Speaker - David Kirtlan
David brings over 25 years of educational leadership experience, having held senior roles including Academy Director at Doncaster College and Education Director at Backstage Academy. A pioneer in ed-tech, he led groundbreaking initiatives with Apple, including the world’s first Apple Authorised Training Centre for Logic and the UK’s first 1:1 MacBook programme, and has since built a broad consultancy career supporting schools, multi-academy trusts, and organisations such as Guide Dogs UK and Family Fund on digital transformation. He has advised governments on curriculum design and spoken at major international conferences including BETT and GESS.
