Resonance Ensemble
We’re excited to be partnering with Merton Music Foundation as part of Resonance Ensemble – a pioneering new project launching in Summer 2025. Resonance brings together accessible music technology, creative collaboration and inclusive practice, and we’re looking forward to sharing our Table of Music Tech and supporting the project’s steering group.
Here’s more about what’s in store:
Merton Music Foundation is launching the Resonance Ensemble, a new inclusive music project for Summer 2025. Blending live performance with sampling, editing and triggering, the project will celebrate the energy and creativity of sound system culture, Drum & Bass and electronic dance music. MMF’s first fully accessible open ensemble will bring together young people aged 14–25 with additional learning needs and instrumentalists from mainstream schools. Running from May to July, the programme will be tailored to meet individual access needs.
Developed with Crown Lane Studio and guided by The Amber Trust and Sounds of Intent, Resonance will feature The Mugo – a prototype accessible instrument created by Gawain Hewitt, Adam Ockelford, The Amber Trust and TiME (Technology in Music Education). Delivery will be led by MMF staff, music industry creatives and SEND/PMLD specialist tutors.
As a steering group partner for the project, TiME will also share its Table of Music Tech, offering participants hands-on experience with innovative adaptive instruments and music technologies. A final video performance will celebrate the creativity of all involved. Resonance will lay the groundwork for a new ongoing technology-led ensemble from September 2025, shaping more inclusive practice across MMF’s wider youth music programme.
